Read Across America Wraps Up with the JAMBOREAD!

About 30 students four teachers traveled to the Spartanburg Public Library to participate in their Jamboread! festival. The students: enjoyed the Y TEEN center of the library, made necklaces, decorated handbags, had their face painted, collected balloon animals, played Rock Band, watched bicycle stunts and jumps, ate pizza and subs, worked with modeling clay, made bookmarks and journals, and were entertained by authors Jack Gantos and Charles R. Smith. EVERY student took home a book purchased with money donated by their teachers.

Charles R. Smith, author of Twelve Rounds to Glory signs a book for one of our students.

This is too cool! Author and graphic artist (through photography) Charles Smith signs his autograph in his very own book! It was awesome to sit and hear how his ideas unfolded onto the pages of some really fantastic picture and poetry books. Did you know that he also wrote a novel called Chameleon?! It was just realeased Fall '08. I'm gettin' it. R. Hill

It is so exciting to see our students enjoying reading! I recognize most of them from their pictures and can't wait to hear what they have to say about their adventure. This is Awesome Mrs. Taz. :)
