SMS LIBRARY GOES TO SPL JAMBOREAD!

It was dreary, wet and rainy. A just plain gray kind of day. It wasn't one of those beautiful blue sky South Carolina days. Thirty SMS students and their teachers made their own sunshine by getting on a bus and heading to the Spartanburg Public Library's 10th Annual Jamboread Reading Festival. It's not every day you can say that you:
  • listened to R.L. Stine read you a poem and a chapter of one of his newly released books to you
  • created a story with the legendary R.L Stine
  • let Bruce Coville enthrall you with his extraordinary storytelling skills
  • enjoyed African Folk tale performances
  • became the proud owner of an autographed copy of a book
  • created a paintball mural
  • watched amazing dogs do tricks
  • danced and sang along to a live a cappella group (or should I say SCREAMED?)
  • made crafts and played video games in an area just for teens
We had a fantastic time today and were sad to learn that this is the last Jamboread. But, what will the Children's and Young Adult Department of the SPL come up with that is bigger and better than this? We can't wait to find out.  Special thanks to all the SMS teachers who donated money so that EVERY student who attended the trip was able to get a book to have autographed by R.L. STINE!!  Thank you teachers! Thank you Libraries! You both make the world a better place!
