October in the Library

We've had a wonderful month in the media center at Sims! Great news! We got our first Donors Choose Grant funded! The grant will provide us with one hundred book easels! No more books falling down! It will be so much easier to display our books now. Putting books on display is very important. Right now, we have scary stories, books about ghosts, vampires, werewolves, bats and monsters on display for Halloween reading!

In October we had our first Read-a-Latte. It was a huge success. Students checked out books, purchased a hot drink, got comfortable and read for the remainer of the period. Some students only associate reading with homework or schoolwork. Hopefully, this will give them a positive reading experience. Classes that participated will receive a ballott to select which resources we spend our read-a-latte profit on.

The book fair is coming. Our goal is to make $2,000. Our profit will be used to purchase more books and audio books for our collection. Stop by the book fair to purchase a book for your language arts teacher's classroom library and learn about the free Book Journey program.
