A New Year of Exciting Possibilities

Happy New School Year! I am so happy to welcome everyone back to school and to be back myself. This first week was great. I enjoyed meeting our 7th grade students and seeing the familiar faces of the eighth graders. There are such exciting possibilities for everyone with the start of a new school year. I see the desire to learn in many of our students' faces and it is thrilling.

Change is in the air. I see our faculty and our students improving on many levels and I am so proud of us! This is slated to be our last year in the building, and it colors everything we do.
The summer Olympics have introduced us to what feels like a new era. A new president will soon be elected. For the first time ever, ALL of our 8th grade students are reading the same book: Cast Two Shadows. This sets the stage for some excellent learning & teaching opportunities. This year is going to be great.

Welcome to Sims. Let's have a great year! Here are some exciting new things we have planned this year in the media center:
  • Mrs. Tazerouti will graduate with her Master of Library Science degree in December!
  • We'll vote for the South Carolina Jr. Book Award and Young Adult Book Awards
  • Books are available for sale in the Media Center book store - paperbacks $2, hardbacks $5. Pens, pencils, erasers, paper and grippies are also available.
  • We'll be getting LOTS of new books.
