Wrapping up a week of great fun!

Reading on Wacky Tacky Day
We just wrapped up red ribbon week at Sims. (Say that five times fast!) The true highlight of the week was Thursday when the whole school took part in two demonstrations of awesome teamwork, planning, coordination, cooperation and school spirit that is an testament to how great our school really is. First, the entire student body walked onto the football field and spelled out "Sims Tigers.". Then, the entire student body went from the field to the gym and had one of the most rocking Mrs. James style pep rallies ever!

While Thursday was the highlight of the school's week, Friday was the highlight of the library's week. It was just business as usual in the library for the rest of the week. Our customers looked a little odd at times though. On Friday, Mrs. Duncan's classes came in to the library for Flashlight Reading and some spooky tales. I read a spooky story, we listened to a spooky story on audio and then we read our books in the dark with our flashlights. Fun!

Punch and Scarecrow Crunch for Book Club
The Hunger Games Book Club had our meeting during 7th and 8th grade lunch periods today. Members had to bring their special invitations to the library and could bring a new member along with them. Existing members were designated "Game Makers" and enjoyed refreshments while the new "Tributes" proved themselves in the "arena" by answering questions about book one of the trilogy. New "Tributes" enjoyed refreshments only after they had proven themselves in the "arena." After breaking into teams, we played "Who said that?" matching a character with a quote from the book. We then played Minute to Win It Games, looked at the newly released character posters from the Hunger Games Movie and watched fan made videos of scenes from the Hunger Games.

It was a wacky-tacky, western, purple & gold, red wearing, flashlight reading, Hunger Games, team shirt week!  Yeah!

Fun weeks like this . . . are why I am a teacher who loves her job.
