What I did this summer

This has certainly been a busy summer for me. When people ask me what I did, I don't know where to begin. I guess I should start with Memorial Day, when we found four kittens and their mama in an abandoned house. Three of the four kittens made it and are living happily on my porch.

In June, I worked summer school at Sims in the library and took two library courses via the Internet at USC. I had to miss a few days of summer school in order to attend the National Education and Computing Conference or NECC, in Atlanta. I learned a great deal at the conference and I am excited to tell everyone about it. Some of them are: Thinkfinity, Second Life and Wiki spaces.

In July, I went to Mystic, Connecticut and spent almost two weeks with my Mother, my sisters and my nieces. The weather was great. We went to the beach, cooked lobster, went to a museum, took a ride on a sailboat, went shopping and just hung out together. We had some really great laughs.

When I got back from Mystic, I spent three days evaluating National Board Renewal portfolios in Rock Hill. This is the second year I've evaluated. It is such a wonderful experience that makes me proud to be a teacher. I learn so much from the portfolios.

I've had about two weeks of just relaxing at home, reading, watching movies and swimming which has been nice. I think after this week I'll be ready to get back in the groove and start school! I am excited about this year and I can't wait to hear what everyone did this summer.
